Baffin Island wolf
The Baffin Island Wolf (Canis lupus manningi) is a sub-species of the Gray Wolf and is endemic to Baffin Island in the Canadian territory of Nunavut, and some surrounding islands. It was catalogued by Anderson and recognized as a Gray Wolf subspecies in 1943.
Comared to other species of wolves, the Baffin Island wolf is diminutive in size. Some experts suggest it is the smallest Arctic Wolf species. It has a light to white colored fur.
Migratory information and early research show a link between the Baffin Island wolf and wolf species in Greenland, suggesting Greenland wolves are descendants of the Baffin Island wolf.
